There's something quite nostalgic about the experience of a drive-in movie theater.
Loading the car with blankets, grabbing some movie snacks and parking up to enjoy a film under the night sky. Here are some of the best options for theaters in Illinois.
Route 66 Drive In, Springfield
Located along historic Route 66 in Springfield, Route 66 Drive In is now open 7 nights a week. Tickets will be pre-sold through their website.
Skyview Drive In, Litchfield
Since it's opening in the Spring of 1950, the Sky View Drive In has been in seasonal operation and is the last remaining original operating drive-in theatre on Route 66 in Illinois and is one of only 4 in the nation. The Sky View is in the Route 66 Hall of Fame and a Wayside Exhibit located on the property tells the stories and history of this iconic drive in.
The McHenry Outdoor Golden Age Theater, McHenry
The nostalgic McHenry Outdoor Theater continues to make memories for thousands of families. With numerous years of experience, the team strive to recreate the entertaining, innocent days of the 1950's. Put the kids in their pajamas, get in the car, and come out to see two movies for less than the price of one. Nothing is more American than spending a summer night under the stars watching a big Hollywood movie.
Skyview Drive-In, Belleville
First opening for business in 1949, the theater has needed it's screens repaired several times due to storm damage. But it's still going strong today! Visit their website for information on showtimes and more.
