The 1908 Springfield Race Riot has been a more common topic of conversation in recent years with excavations and discoveries as well as national conversations about race in our communities.

Virtual Event

However, for the better part of a century, most Illinoisans didn’t know it had occurred and it was rarely discussed in public forums. Join Historian Doris J. Bailey for a discussion of why this pivotal event was a hidden history for so long and learn about the brave activism and research that finally broke the silence. Advanced registration is required at https://bit.ly/1908Talk and space is limited.
