Yar, She’s a Pretty Cave
If you think pirates are just the stuff of legends, avast! Cave-In-Rock, Illinois has a different story to tell. In the early 1800s, this gaping cave carved from the rocky bluffs of the Ohio River was used by bands of notorious pirates to lure unsuspecting travelers. Captured and robbed, few lived to escape. Ahoy! Happy travels! Oh, we should probably mention... Today’s Cave-In-Rock State Park is guaranteed pirate-free. At least we’re pretty sure they’re gone.
