Day 1:

Effingham

  • The exterior of a building

Once you've checked into your suite at the Holiday Inn, head to downtown Effingham to start your day. Head to locally owned Joe Sippers, a true coffee house experience with their own roasted coffee and espresso, home baked goods, blends of tea, along with numerous items for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Take your coffee to go for the short walk across Jefferson Avenue to the historic Effingham County Courthouse Museum. The Courthouse, located on the square in downtown Effingham, is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. After exploring downtown Effingham, satisfy your appetite at Firefly Grill. This farm to table restaurant is a culinary experience that brings thousands of people each year to our community. Firefly offers an unforgettable experience for travelers. Not ready to call it a night? Enjoy a wine tasting at Tuscan Hills Winery, a beautiful winery with an old-world Tuscan feel. With a variety of excellent sangrias, seasonal beers, liquors and non-alcoholic beverages, you are invited to unwind on the covered patio, take in the live entertainment and reflect on the beautiful but busy day you had exploring Effingham.

Day 2:

Effingham

  • Meat on a cutting board

Wake up refreshed and order room service or head to their stunning lobby and enjoy breakfast at the TK Grille restaurant. After breakfast make your way over to the oldest industry in Effingham, John Boos & Company Outlet & Showroom. Known for their BOOS BLOCKS cutting boards, they’re used by your favorite celebrity chefs and featured on many major cooking shows. This is a must-visit where you can buy the same products the pros use. On the last leg of your visit, head back to the downtown area for a taste of true Effingham culture. Enjoy live music and an atmosphere "where everybody knows your name." Ready to get moving? Walk our outdoor gallery to view our annual Sculptures on the Avenues outdoor exhibition, featuring twenty-nine unique sculptures. The self-guided walking tour winds in and out of the Downtown Effingham area, stopping at the Flame of Hope, the piece that ignited our arts-friendly community. Kick up your feet at Village Wine & Gifts rooftop bar, just a short walk down Jefferson Avenue. Here you'll find a wide variety of wines, beers and spirits - be sure to pick up a souvenir to take home! Enjoy talented local musicians and a breathtaking view of our beautiful city...that we hope inspires you to start planning your next visit to Effingham.
