
Be sure to stop at Rockome Gardens in Arcola, the heart of Illinois’ Amish country, when it opens for the season in May. This year Rockome unveils a new cheese factory, a bakery, an Amish foods store and the recently relocated Illinois Amish Interpretive Center.

The past comes alive in Springfield this summer with a program of Living History events held around town. Look for a roving Abraham Lincoln at various historic sites, costumed interpreters at the Old State Capitol, poetry readings at the Vachel Lindsay Home, Civil War trolley tours and street performances by period troubadours.
